The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged youth from several Senior High Schools in Accra to uphold peaceful living for effective nation building ahead of the December 7 elections.

Alumni of various NCCE civic clubs and many other young people thronged the Ghana Association of Teachers Hall to witness a variety of activities that are geared to uphold good leadership and foster good values as citizens of Ghana, especially during the election period.

The event, which was themed ‘Together We Can Build Ghana, So Get Involved,’ centers around four thematic areas: Religious Tolerance, Misinformation, Disinformation and Fake News, Money in Politics, and Violence.

The program, powered by the European Union and Ghana’s No. 1 urban radio station YFM, was designed to inspire young minds and encourage active civic participation. YFM, in particular, played a significant role in mobilizing the youth and amplifying the message of peace and civic responsibility throughout the event. The station’s reach and influence have been pivotal in ensuring that the campaign’s core messages resonate with the younger generation.

The event is expected to be graced by Chairman of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Kathleen Addy, and a representative of the European Union, Sylvia Tizzi.

The festival will also mark the inauguration of new clubs and the swearing-in of new club members who will join the civic clubs of the NCCE.

Senior High Schools invited to experience another edition of NCCE’s vibrant festival, Civic Fest, include Accra Academy Senior High School, Saint Mary’s Senior High School, Achimota Senior High, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Accra High Secondary School, Presbyterian Boys Secondary School (Legon), Accra Girls Senior High School, Odorgonno Senior School, and Labone Senior Secondary School.
