Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies faced a challenging match in their second Group B game of the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, suffering a 3-0 defeat against Nigeria’s Edo Queens at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké, Côte d’Ivoire.

The Hasmal Ladies showed improvement from their first group game, but the Nigerian side proved stronger, especially in the second half.

Emem Essien struck twice for Edo Queens, finding the net in the 56th and 67th minutes, breaking through the Ghanaian defense. Suliat Abideen added a third goal to seal the victory for the Nigerian team.

To make matters worse for Hasaacas ladies, Fidous Yakubu, who held down the midfield especially in the first half had to be stretched off after an injury in the 74th minute .

This defeat leaves Hasaacas Ladies on the brink of a group stage exit in their second appearance in the competition.

With AS Omnisports Etincelles thrashing AS Garde Nationale of Niger 6-1 in the other Group B match, Edo Queens now sit at the top of the group and have secured their spot in the semifinals.

Omnisports are second with four points from two games, while Hasaacas Ladies are third with just one point.

In their final group match on August 17 at the Stade de la Paix, the Hasmal Ladies must secure a decisive win against AS Garde Nationale to have any hope of advancing to the next round of the tournament.
