The leadership and executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have called on the Electoral Commission of Ghana to recall the results of 12 constituencies, which they claim were declared without following the proper procedures outlined by the Commission.

During a press conference held on December 11, 2024, at the NPP headquarters in Asylum Down, the party alleged that leaders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had deployed individuals to 13 constituencies across the country to incite violence and manipulate the results in favor of the NDC.

The NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, accused the NDC of orchestrating these actions to dominate Ghana’s Parliament and gain unilateral control over the decision-making process. He explained, “These NDC supporters have invaded constituency collation centers and vandalized national property to ensure that results are declared in favor of the NDC. They are doing all of this to secure two-thirds of the seats in Parliament and alter the constitution to allow John Mahama to automatically stay in government for eight years. This is why the NDC is desperate. You already have the majority in Parliament, so what else do you want?”

According to the NPP, constituencies such as Dome Kwabenya, Ablekuma North, Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, Ahafo Ano North, Obuasi East, Ahafo Ano South-West, Akrofuom, Suhum, Techiman South, Fanteakwa North, Nsawam Adoagyiri, and Aowin have been targeted by NDC supporters. The NPP alleged that these areas have been vandalized and are currently under siege.

The party has, therefore, called on the Electoral Commission to recall the results of these constituencies and conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged disparities.
