The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has disclosed that Ukraine is keen on reinstating medical scholarship opportunities for Ghanaian students and strengthening its educational partnership with Ghana after the war

“Ukraine is seeking to restore medical scholarship opportunities and an expanded bilateral educational partnership agreement with Ghana after the war. We also discussed mutually beneficial agribusiness initiatives, particularly as Ukraine seeks to quickly rebuild its economy.

“The Ukrainian Foreign Minister has emphasized that his country is all for ending the war with Russia this year, and that they would not be an obstacle for lasting peace,” okudzeto wrote.

He made this known in a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 19, after separate meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Georgia on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue in India, where discussions focused on education, trade, and diplomacy.

According to Mr. Ablakwa, Ukraine is also exploring mutually beneficial agribusiness initiatives as part of efforts to rebuild its economy.

He further disclosed that Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, emphasized his country’s commitment to ending the war with Russia this year and ensuring lasting peace.

In his engagement with Georgia’s Foreign Minister, Maka Botchorishvili, Mr. Ablakwa revealed that Georgia is considering establishing a diplomatic presence in Accra.

The two ministers also discussed new agreements in education, agriculture, and tourism to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Mr. Ablakwa expressed appreciation to both ministers for their warm engagements and their commitment to deepening relations with Ghana.

Ukraine is seeking to restore medical scholarship opportunities and an expanded bilateral educational partnership agreement with Ghana after the war. We also discussed mutually beneficial agribusiness initiatives, particularly as Ukraine seeks to quickly rebuild its economy.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister emphasized that his country is all for ending the war with Russia this year, and that they would not be an obstacle for lasting peace.

Georgia on the other hand is considering establishing diplomatic presence in Accra. We additionally explored new agreements to cover the educational, agricultural and tourism sectors of our two countries.

I am deeply grateful to His Excellency Andrii Sybiha of Ukraine and Her Excellency Maka Botchorishvili of Georgia for their warmth and great respect for Ghana.
