The Presidential Spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has strongly refuted allegations made by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South, regarding two aircrafts that recently passed through Ghana.

According to him, the claims that these flights were involved in drug trafficking and money laundering are entirely false and part of a deliberate disinformation campaign by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to undermine public confidence in the government.

He explained that when given the opportunity to present evidence to security agencies, Rev. Ntim Fordjour backtracked, claiming he was merely speaking on behalf of a committee and not expressing personal views.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu emphasized that the facts surrounding the arrival of the two aircrafts differ completely from the misleading narrative the NPP is pushing.

He clarified that both flights had legitimate reasons for being in Ghana and followed due process.

The first aircraft, identified as Antonov Flight 12B-KY with registration number CBKY 737, landed in Ghana on March 12, 2025. This was a cargo plane originating from Luanda, Angola, and was loaded with oil drilling equipment and lubricant oil bound for Germany.

However, due to European Union regulations, the aircraft needed to meet certain certification requirements before entering the EU.

He said since Angola lacks the necessary certification facilities, the plane made a technical stop in Ghana to complete these regulatory procedures.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu stressed that no aircraft can land in Ghana without a valid landing permit, and this particular flight secured its permit under the reference number GF/TMAO/25/7863.

He reiterated that the plane’s presence in Ghana was purely for regulatory compliance and had no links to any criminal activities.

He condemned the NPP’s attempts to spread falsehoods, accusing them of deliberately misleading the public to create unnecessary fear and suspicion.

He assured Ghanaians that the government remains committed to transparency and will not allow political propaganda to tarnish the country’s reputation.
