Commercial drivers to have their vehicles impounded for violation of sanitation regulations

Residents of the Cape Coast Metropolis in the Central Region, particularly commercial drivers have been compelled to strictly adhere to the Assembly’s clean-up exercise slated to hold on Saturday, July 5, 2025, and scheduled to come off every first Saturday of the month.

Speaking in a media engagement, Hon. George Justice Arthur, Mayor for the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly recounted the desire to enforce President John Dramani Mahama’s implementation of the National Sanitation Day in the Cape Coast Metropolis.

He observed that the sanitation exercise scheduled to hold all year round, sought to promote a clean and hygienic environment, thereby making Cape Coast the cleanest city in the country as he envisaged for the ancient city under his reign as Mayor of the Metropolis.

Hon. George Justice Arthur, therefore, implored every citizenry of the Metropolis to actively engage in the clean-up exercise which commences at exactly 6am-10am to help eradicate filth and make Cape Coast great again. SOT

The Cape Coast Mayor on update of the demolishing exercise undertaken by the Assembly following the recent collapse of buildings, uncovered the Assembly’s firm stance never to relent on the demolishing of weak structures in the area, as the demolishing exercise is still underway.

According to him, the Assembly has set upon itself to restore buildings which appear strong enough by giving it a renovative touch since some structures in Cape Coast bear historic memories, but pull down structures which seem unrepairable and dilapidated enough to cause yet another mayhem.
