The Ga Paramount Stool Dzase has revealed that they rejected the nomination of Dr Kelvin Tackie as Ga Mantse when he appeared before the vetting committee.
According to Nii Yaote Oto Ga II, the Dzasetse of the Ga Paramount Stool the now purported Ga Mantse was rejected because he was a small boy who could not ascend the Ga throne.
Nii Yaote Oto II made this revelation at a press conference to react to the purported installation of Dr. Kelvin Tackie as Ga Mantse over the weekend in Accra.
He says after the death of Boni Nii Amugi II in 2004, the mantle was passed to the Abola Piam royal house for a candidate for the position of Ga Mantse.
“So as custom demands we invited candidates for vetting from the elders of the Abola Piam. The house presented the then George Tackie Abia, Dr. Kelvin Tackie and the late Ayitey Aryeetey otherwise known as ‘Ayitetey Canada’.”
“As Dzasetse together with the paramount stool we elected George Tackie Abia for installation by the appropriate authorities as the Ga Mantse and that was done on June 11, 2011,” he explained.
He says George Tackie Abia was given the stool name King Tackie Adama Latse II.
He noted that he was presented to the Ga Traditional Council for the appropriate formal processes towards recognition in accordance with the provisions of the 1992 Constitution and the Chieftaincy Act 759.
The Ga Traditional Council headed by the Otublohum Mantse, Nii Dodoo Nsaki III, he said accepted him into the membership of the council and duly forwarded his Chieftaincy Declaration (CD) form to the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs in Dodowa for onward transmission to the National House of Chiefs.
He noted that after all the appropriate checks; his name (Adama Laste) was forwarded to the National House of Chiefs at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
He said in spite of all these the Regional Security Council is determined to use state power to install a new Ga Mantse for the Ga people.
