Enugu Rangers goalkeeper Nana Bonsu opens up on death of team mate

Ghana and Enugu Rangers goalkeeper Nana Bonsu has opened up on the death of his team mate George Ifenyi who was killed in a road traffic accident on Sunday.

George, 26, was driving to Lagos from Enugu when his vehicle collided into a stationary truck.

The player was returning home after being granted leave by Rangers due to the NPFL suspension amid the coronavirus pandemic.

George lost his life with two other friends.

Speaking to Odi-Asempa Kwame Oware on Wamputu Sports on Happy FM, Nana Bonsu revealed that he had earlier on advised George to travel home by bus, “He left camp because we were on break because of the coronavirus.

“He told us that he will leave for Lagos with his new car and I advised him not to go with the car because it was his first time he had to go on a that long journey”.

“We woke up in in the morning (Sunday) and heard the unfortunate incident that he has been involved in an accident”.

Bonsu further said that the player has been insured by the club and his family will be entitled to some money.

The Nigerian League is currently on break due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
