The Ghanaian movie industry is not doing as well as it used to in some years past. Some people have associated the decline in the industry to technological advancements. Whilst others have also associated the decline to lack of support.

Adding his voice to the problems being faced in the movie industry is a renowned Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo (JD). The actor has disclosed that with the right structures put in place, the movie industry will be a huge export commodity for Ghana.

He made this statement during an interview with Rev. Erskine on the Y-Leaderboard Series, which airs on Y107.9FM. “The entertainment industry is how we sell Ghana to the world. To make this possible we need to put in place the right structures and make it the biggest export Ghana has to offer.”

Citing Nigeria as an example, JD revealed that, just as the Nigerian movie industry contributed to making the country what it is now, the Ghanaian movie industry can also do the same.

John, who has also ventured into politics opined that, with the right structures, the movie industry can contribute largely to the Ghanaian economy like the Hollywood, Bollywood and other thriving movies industries.

Industry players have already submitted some proposals to the parliament of Ghana which when put in place will support and grow the movie industry, making it more profitable and attractive in the process.
