Asante Kotoko were crowned champions of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season last Sunday in Kumasi and will represent the country in the CAF Champions League next season.
The National Lottery Authority boss, Sammy Awuku, heaped praise on Asante Kotoko for their success this season having lost the trophy to their archrivals Hearts Of Oak last season.
Sammy Awuku further assured that the team will receive support for the Africa campaign.
“Government will do its part, same as the NLA and also the Ministry of Youth and Sports to raise funds for Kotoko to do well in Africa,” he said.
National Lottery Authority sealed a partnership deal with Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak valued 1million Ghana cedis for one year with option to renew based on performance.
“NLA had a one year sponsorship package for Kotoko and Hearts with little support to Hassacas ladies. Asante Kotoko will be seeded since they won the league and also, we will try and get one team from the north,” he said.
Sammy Awuku further noted his organisation will try to extend their territories to the Women’s league come next season.
