Awuley Quaye Snr’s State burial: Family thanks Ministry of Youth and Sports, GFA, TT Brothers Former Black Stars captain, Emmanuel Awuley Quaye Snr will be given a State burial at the forecourt of State House on Saturday, June 8, 2024. The funeral arrangements of the Accra Great Olympics legend was announced at a press briefing at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, May 30, 2024, by his family led by his son Rev. Awuley Quaye Jnr. Rev. Awuley Quaye Jnr told the press that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, GFA president Kurt Okraku and other top personalities are all expected to attend. “The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 8, at the forecourt of State House. We thank the President, Sports Minister, GFA and TT Brothers who even made sure that this press conference will come on,” he said. Emmanuel Awuley Quaye Snr captained both Accra Great Olympics and the Black Stars leading Ghana to the 1978 African Cup of Nations.
