Asante Kotoko could be on course for a high-profile showdown with Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Casablanca in the second preliminary round of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup, if they overcome Nigeria’s Kwara United in their opening tie.
The Ghana FA Cup holders will kick off their campaign at home in Kumasi between September 19 and 21, before making the trip to Nigeria for the return leg from September 26 to 28.
Victory over Kwara United would set up a mouth-watering clash with Wydad Casablanca, one of Africa’s most decorated sides and a multiple-time CAF Champions League winner. The Moroccan giants enter the competition at this stage, presenting a major early challenge for the Porcupines.
The first leg of the second preliminary round is scheduled for October 17–19, with the return leg to follow between October 24 and 26.
The winner on aggregate will advance to the group stage of Africa’s second-tier club competition—moving a step closer to continental glory and the accompanying financial rewards.
This will be Kotoko’s first appearance in the Confederation Cup since 2022.
