CAF top brass wants Accra Sports Stadium to be treated like Wembley

Deputy General Secretary of CAF, Anthony Baffoe has lamented the improper use of the Accra Sports Stadium, insisting that it should not be given out easily for any match.

The Accra Sports Stadium was recently refurbished for the AWCON tournament exactly ten years after major refreshment was done for CAN 2008.

Several football pundits have complained bitterly about the lack of proper maintenance culture of our sports facilities including the Accra Sport Stadium.

In an interview with Ohene Bampoe–Brenya on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports, Mr. Baffoe urged handlers of the edifice to properly maintain it like the English does to the iconic Wembley Stadium.

“When was the last time a big club or country came to play in Ghana? Ghana is a big football nation. We should be able to host high profile teams so the Accra Sports Stadium must be treated like Wembley and not given out for any match.”

The stadium has in recent time been used for musical concerts and church conventions which many believe contribute to its deterioration.

The edifice is scheduled to host the forthcoming S-Concert on the Friday, December 7, 2018.
