Police Ladies FC bounced back in style on Wednesday, with a commanding 3-1 win over Benin’s Sam Nelly in their second group game at the WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
The victory, secured at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, was the perfect response to their narrow 2-1 defeat to Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens in the opener and it keeps their qualification hopes firmly alive.
From the first whistle, the Ghanaian champions looked determined, dictating play with confidence and piling pressure on their opponents. Their persistence paid off when Grace Animah broke the deadlock to set the tone for a dominant display.
Sarah Nyarkoh and Deborah Afriyie later added their names to the scoresheet, ensuring Police Ladies kept control of the contest. Though Sam Nelly managed to pull one back, the Ghanaians stayed composed, tightening their grip to see out an important victory.
With three points now on the board, morale is high in the Police Ladies camp as they push for a place in the next stage of the competition.
