Controversial coach JE Sarpong lambastes Oti Akenteng; insists he is the bane of coaching in Ghana

Veteran football coach, J.E Sarpong says the transfer ban imposed on the club by Manyhia will not affect the team as Maxwell Konadu has a pool of talents to play within the current squad.

Asante Kotoko has been barred by Manhyia from signing any player for a year as the newly constituted Board has been instructed to set up an academy and ensure player development.

Kotoko over the years has made numerous player signings which have seen the club lose millions of Ghana cedis.

The directive from Manhyia has seen head coach of the team Maxwell Konadu pleading for his side to be allowed to make two or three signings to beef up the squad when football restarts.

According to Coach Sarpong, Asante Kotoko have almost 40 players in their squad and this is the time to give the opportunity to other players who lack playtime.

“I have heard that within one year they shouldn’t sign any player and the order came from Manhyia. Every team has the way they run the club. They need to readjust and look at the way forward. Kotoko has about 40 players and they have to just select the best players out of it”, he told Odiasempa Kwame Oware on Happy Sports on Happy 98.9FM.

“Nana in his wisdom knows there are players in the club who can make an impact. Is not always about buying. Those who are not getting playtime should be given a chance. They should do with what they have. There are some good ones among them”.

He added that there is no need for Maxwell Konadu to request for more players as the club already boasts of quality players.
