Former Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has extended his utmost gratitude to a delegation of legislators who visited his office earlier today to express their support for his second bid to become the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
His remarks come shortly after a bold declaration of intent by former Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, who also seeks to contest as a presidential candidate on the NPP ticket.
In an engagement with the press, Dr. Bawumia expressed great satisfaction, describing the visit of 60 MPs as both a “courtesy call and a call to declare support” for him. “I’m so happy in terms of the group that have declared support for me from Parliament. Now I’m out with 60 Members of Parliament and you know you have 88 Members of Parliament, and that tells you that a very significant number of Members of Parliament have declared their support for me.”
Dr. Bawumia appreciated the delegation, which was led by the MP for Mampong, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, and encouraged continued collaboration to strengthen his chances across their respective constituencies in his bid to become the NPP’s 2028 presidential candidate.
“We know that the Members of Parliament control the constituencies to a large extent, and I am very happy for what they have done today,” he said.
