Vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has named Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his Running Mate for the 2024 elections.
According to viral reports, the Flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) submitted the name of the Energy Minister to the President on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
The report stated that President Akufo-Addo after hearing the name of Dr. Opoku Prempeh in the meeting with the Vice president offered his advice before accepting the nomination.
“He was first elected to Parliament on June 1, 2008, and successfully re-elected in 2012, 2016, and 2020. He has served on the Health, Appointment, and Defence and Interior Committees of Parliament.
“In 2017, President Akufo-Addo appointed him as Education Minister, and he currently holds the position of Energy Minister. His name is Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO,” the report added.
