Ghana’s leading and reputable investment powerhouse, EDC Investments Ltd, has championed the prioritization of investment by Ghana’s large informal sector and owners of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in a new radio investment broadcast produced in Twi language named “Wo Sikas3m”

The “Wo Sikas3m” segment is a daily radio investment broadcast in partnership with Happy 98.9 FM; a member of the Global Media Alliance Broadcast Group. It promises to be fun, exciting and most importantly educative.

Speaking at the launch, Managing Director of EDC Investments Ltd, Paul Kofi Mante stated, “With our teachings, we believe everyone will understand how money works”. Citing an analogy of fruits and seeds to investment, he stated, “money is a fruit which when opened contains the edible fruit and the seeds. The seeds must be planted and not consumed. This way you can plant the seeds and reap the fruits over and over again and this is what we want people to understand. We need to understand that people must invest a part of their income before spending and not the other way round. You ask people why they do not invest and the usual excuse is that they don’t make enough to invest. But we need to understand that the income we make will never be enough for us,” he said.

The Parkinson Law propounded by English writer C. Northcote Parkinson, explains why most people retire poor. This law states that no matter how much money people earn, they tend to spend the entire amount and a little bit more. In addition, their expenses rise in lockstep with their incomes. According to Paul Mante, investment education is critical to avoid falling victim to this law.

Emphasizing the importance of investment education at the launch, Mr. Mante added, “renowned entrepreneur; Jim Rhon once said that if the world’s wealth was divided equally amongst the global population, those who were previously rich will become rich again simply because they possess money sense and will use their money wisely and the poor will become poor once again, an indication that knowing how money works is priceless and non-negotiable.”

Admitting there is power in money, Paul Kofi Mante posited that the most powerful tool in investment is knowledge and the understanding of how money works; a reason why EDC Investment Ltd is partnering Happy 98.9FM to educate the average Ghanaian in a simple and popular language; Twi for the attainment of financial independence.

“Wo Sikas3m”, the daily financial literacy segment in Ghana’s widely spoken local language; Twi will be broadcasted live on Happy98.9FM’s Epa Hoa Daben current affairs talk show at 2pm every weekday, reaching people in Accra and its surrounding regions. With nationwide and ultimately the global reach as the goal, affiliates of Happy98.9FM will broadcast this segment live, with Akonoba 92.7FM serving those in the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions. Neesim 100.1FM and Neesim 95.9FM will serve Ghanaians in the Northern, Savanna, North East and Upper East regions respectively with Happy98.9FM also capitalizing on its digital assets to reach the global populace.
