Market women at Agona Swedru in the Agona West Constituency of the Central region, are at their wit’s end due to the country’s economic struggles, which have severely impacted their sales. Patricia Koomson, a trader at Swedru market, expressed her frustration, stating that the daily sales they once relied on has reduced significantly.

She blamed the poor economy, citing that neither the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) nor the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has made a difference, and urged Ghanaians to consider the Ghana Union Movement (GUM) as a viable alternative.

The market women lamented that the economic struggles have made life extremely challenging, affecting even the most basic aspects of their lives. Providing education for their children has become very difficult, with school fees now a significant burden. Furthermore, some struggle to afford even the simplest necessities, such as two meals a day, due to the unrelenting economic hardship.

They are pleading with the government to stabilize the economy, citing the devastating impact of inflation and high interest rates on their businesses.
