Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Attah has assured Parliament that government will provide the needed resources required for the 2020 general elections.

He made these pronouncements during the third budget presentation since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) assumed office in 2016.
‘’All the needed resources required for the 2020 elections would be made available to the EC for a free, fair and credible elections in Ghana’’ he noted.

He was however quick to add that elections spending will be prudent.
According to reports cost of elections have been increasing steadily. In 2012, election expenditure increased from 138 million cedis in 2008 to 515 million cedis representing an estimated 273% more.

The 2016 general elections that brought the current government into power saw an estimated 60% rise on the 515 million in 2012.
