The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has rescued seven Nigerian nationals who were allegedly trafficked into Ghana and forced to engage in cyber fraud activities at Mataheko–Afienya.
The operation, conducted on Friday, November 14, 2025, formed part of EOCO’s ongoing Operation LIFELINE. During the swoop, officers picked up a total of 10 Nigerians three suspected traffickers and seven victims, aged between 17 and 30.
The victims are said to have been lured into the country with promises of decent, legitimate jobs, only to be subjected to exploitative working conditions and compelled to carry out online fraud schemes.
EOCO has urged the public to be alert and promptly report any suspicious activity through its hotlines and other law enforcement channels. The Office further advised landlords to properly vet the backgrounds of foreign nationals before renting out properties to them.
The agency cautioned that anyone involved in, or aiding, cybercrime will be tracked down and prosecuted, reaffirming its commitment to fighting organised crime and protecting vulnerable individuals.
