Ghanaian-based UK boxer Seth Gyimah, widely known as Freezy Macbone, triumphed in his inaugural match in Ghana at the Bukom Boxing Arena last weekend.

The 33-year-old gained prominence by clinching the Light heavyweight championship after defeating veteran Darryl Sharp at London’s Copper Box Arena.

Following this success, Gyimah was invited by the Ghana Boxing Authority to join the Black Bombers team for the 2024 Olympic Games Qualifiers. However, his aspirations took a hit when Freezy Macbone suffered a loss to Senegalese opponent Seydou Konate in the middleweight category on Saturday, September 9, through a unanimous decision.

Expressing discontent in an interview, the Ghanaian boxer claimed he was unfairly treated and demanded a rematch against Seydou Konate in Ghana. Unfortunately, the rematch was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, leading to the selection of Nigerian boxer Oladimeji Salami as a replacement for the Senegalese opponent.

The stage was set at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Saturday, December 23, 2023, where Freezy Macbone secured a significant victory by handing Nigerian boxer Oladimeji Salami his first career defeat in Accra. Despite a promising start by Salami in the first and second rounds, he succumbed to the relentless punches of the Ghanaian in the third round, resulting in Freezy’s triumph via Technical Knockout.

With this win, Seth Gyimah has now claimed his third career victory after his setback in the Olympic Games Qualifiers. The Ghanaian boxer remains undecided about whether to continue in the professional ranks or return to the amateur division.
