The Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) spokesperson, Charles Osei-Assibey, has disclosed that the association is yet to receive any money from the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) following their participation in the just-ended World Relays in Poland.

GOC President Ben Nunoo Mensah in an exclusive interview on Ghana’s number one Sports Station Happy 98.9FM indicated that there had been some sort of support from the GOC to the Athletics team ahead of the World Relays.

He disclosed that $9000 was given to the Athletics team for the World Relays Championship as part of their support to the team.

” The GOC has given the Athletics team $9000 as part of our efforts to support the team qualify for the Olympic Games ”, Ben Nunoo-Mensah told Happy 98.9FM.

However, Charles Osei-Assibey has reacted to the claims made by the GOC president on Happy Sports stating that the GAA is yet to receive any money from the Olympic body.

According to him, the GAA is not aware of any form of support from the Ghana Olympic Committee.

“We are yet to receive from the GOC in our participation at the World Relay Championship in Poland”.

Meanwhile, Happy Sports understands that the $9000 has been paid into the accounts of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) on Thursday 29 April 2021 by the GOC.

Officials from the GAA have informed Happy Sports that they are yet to receive the money.
