Globally recognized record monitoring platform, Guinness World Records has approved the attempt of Ghanaian media personality, Afua Asantewaa O. Adounum to attempt the longest individual singing marathon.

The record is presently held by India’s Sunil Waghmare who made the attempt in 2012 with a record of 105 hours, which began on Saturday, March 3, 2023 to Wednesday, March 7, 2023.

Afua in a social media post, clarified the technique she deemed fit to enable her break the current record in alignment with the rules of Guinness World Records. In her bid to acknowledge Ghanaian musicians, Afua enlists strictly Ghanaian songs ranging from Highlife to Hiplife to Ghanaian gospel to be sung in under 2 minutes, and can only be repeated after 4 hours.

Afua Asantewaa’s attempt is scheduled to commence on Sunday, December, 24 2023 and end on Wednesday, December, 27 2023. She aims for a minimum target of 117 hours, with a maximum, 120 hours attempting the longest individual singing marathon.
