Chairman of the Constitution Review Committee, Professor Henry Kwasi Prempeh has assured that the review committee is committed to producing an efficient guide for reforms in Ghana’s governance system for implementation by August 2025.

The leader of the committee shared with happyghana.com’s Kobina Baidoo shortly after Day 1 of stakeholder engagements held in Accra on Tuesday, plans of the committee to tackle a variety of areas that have been plagued with constitutional discrepancies.

He revealed that the government has set all operations on a fast track for implementation, considering the quick appointment of his committee by President John Dramani Mahama. “The President was sworn in by January 7 and by January 20, we received our appointments, which means they are in a hurry. Initially they even wanted us to finish these deliberations by the end of March, meaning we had only three months to execute this but we pleaded for more time to ensure efficiency.” he disclosed.

The Executive Director of the Ghana Center for Democratic Development explained that with substantial support from various stakeholders and cooperation of the public, reports from final deliberations of the committee will be done and will be forwarded to government to commence action on the reforms before the fourth quarter of 2025. “We are going to stick to the timetable and by July to August the government should have something they can start working on,”

Reports from happyghana.com reveal that the constitutional review which commenced today on Lands and Natural resources will bring significant reforms to Ghana’s governance structure. The review is expected to last for one month with approximately 15 days for stakeholder engagements and public engagements for the latter.
