The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has announced a series of promotions within the Ghana Police Service following the arrest of ten suspected bank robbers.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Election Command Centre of the Police Headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, the IGP commended officers for their dedication and the public for providing credible intelligence that led to the breakthrough.
“I commend all other officers who played critical roles towards this successful operation. I also sincerely thank members of the public who volunteered credible information to the police. I want to take this opportunity to call on all members of the public to support the police with information for successful investigations,” he said.
The IGP urged Ghanaians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, assuring that the service is committed to rewarding individuals who provide credible information to aid investigations.
“As you may be aware, the service is committed to rewarding credible information shared to support our investigation. I would like to assure you that the police will continue to make life uncomfortable for criminal elements in our society. We will pursue you until you are brought to justice,” he stressed.
He further revealed that the Police Management Board has approved the promotion of several officers for their outstanding roles in the operation. These include:
1. Three Chief Inspectors promoted to the Police Academy
2. Three Inspectors elevated to Chief Inspectors
3. Two Sergeants promoted to Inspector
4. One Corporal elevated to Sergeant
5. Three Constables promoted to Lance Corporal
He added that promotions for senior officers will be decided by the Police Council in due course.
