I’m a pioneering figure in the set-up of Peace FM, Happy FM, many renowned radio stations in Ghana - Amankwa Ampofo Veteran Ghanaian broadcaster and historian, Charles Amankwa Ampofo, has shared insights into his instrumental role in the establishment of several prominent radio stations in Ghana. In an exclusive interview with Reynolds Agyeman on Happy 98.9 FM's "Fact Sheet," the veteran broadcaster revealed that his involvement extended beyond mere consultation, as he played a pivotal role in shaping the foundation and programming of notable stations including Peace FM and Happy FM. Amankwa Ampofo shared, "A lot of the renowned stations in Ghana now like Peace FM, Happy FM, and the likes, I've had a hand in their establishments." He reminisced about the early days of Peace FM, highlighting his collaboration with Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, the station's founder. "Especially for Peace FM, Despite relied on Nana Ampadu and myself to structure programmes and activities for the station," he disclosed. "We went on to recommend people to come on board, and all these were courtesy of my peak days while I was popular. Many people called on me for anything regarding media." He further emphasized his significant contribution to the growth and success of various radio stations in Ghana, including Happy FM. He played a crucial role in consultancy, advertising, and programme development. Charles Amankwa-Ampofo has been a renowned figure in the Ghanaian entertainment industry for decades and has since made immense contributions to the industry, impacting many lives through his work. Over the years, he has worked with various media outlets, including Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), where he served as the Head of the TV department.
