Residents of Ketu South have blocked the Keta-Aflao road in protest, demanding urgent action on the delayed Phase II of the Blekusu Sea Defense Project.
Their frustration has reached a boiling point following recent tidal waves that have ravaged their homes, displaced families, and caused significant damage to the main road.
Since 2012, coastal erosion has devastated communities like Salakope, Amutinu, and Agavedzi, forcing many residents to seek refuge in temporary shelters.
The government had pledged to address the crisis, with President Mahama visiting the area in March to assess the situation and promising swift intervention.
However, weeks have passed without any significant progress, leaving residents feeling abandoned.
The protesters hope their demonstration will prompt immediate government action before more homes and livelihoods are lost.
Meanwhile, stranded motorists and passengers have been caught in the middle of the standoff as residents demand the fulfilment of long-overdue promises.
