Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has pledged swift action in the case involving the dismissed Assistant Headmaster of KNUST Senior High School, Charles Akwasi Aidoo, and a female student.

Speaking during Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s working visit to the ministry on Wednesday, October 1, Dr. Lartey confirmed that her office is working closely with law enforcement.

“The recent one is the report of the female student at KNUST with the assistant headmaster. Even though GES through the school dismissed him, we are collaborating with the police to effect the arrest of the perpetrator,” she said.

Aidoo was removed from his post on September 29 by the Ghana Education Service after a viral video allegedly showed him in a compromising situation with a minor.

Dr. Lartey reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to child protection.

“We remain resolute in ensuring that perpetrators of abuse face the full rigour of the law.”
