The Koforidua High Court has dismissed an election petition challenging the victory of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Suhum, Frank Asiedu Bekoe popularly known as Protozoa, ruling that his election in the 2024 parliamentary polls was lawfully and validly obtained.
The court’s decision was announced by the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Samuel Awuku, in a social media post, where he described the case as a stressful legal battle that has finally come to an end.
According to Mr Awuku, the dismissal of the petition affirms the legitimacy of Frank Asiedu Bekoe’s mandate and clears the way for him to fully concentrate on serving the people of Suhum without further legal distractions.
“This morning, the Koforidua High Court dismissed the election petition against the duly elected Member of Parliament, Hon. Frank Asiedu Bekoe, affirming that his mandate was lawfully and validly obtained. One by one, we will defend our territory and protect the seats we legitimately occupy,” he wrote.
He also praised Lawyer Gary Nimako and the New Patriotic Party’s legal team for what he described as a successful defense of the party’s parliamentary seat.
Frank Asiedu Bekoe, popularly known as Protozoa, was declared winner of the Suhum parliamentary seat in the 2024 general elections after securing 16,855 votes.
