The Minority Caucus in the Parliament of Ghana has officially requested verification of the medical registration status of Dr. Ann Sansa Daly, who has recently gained attention for her appearances on health-related television programs in the country.
In a letter dated May 30, 2025, and addressed to the Registrar of the Ghana Medical and Dental Council (GMDC), Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Health Committee, is seeking urgent clarification on whether Dr. Daly is legally registered and licensed to practice medicine in Ghana.
Dr. Daly has recently featured prominently on platforms such as GHOne TV, where she is known to offer medical advice to the public. However, questions have arisen regarding her professional credentials and whether she is authorized by the GMDC to publicly present herself as a medical practitioner.
The letter outlines four specific areas of inquiry:
1. Whether Dr. Daly is currently registered and licensed to practice medicine in Ghana.
2. Whether she has ever been registered with the GMDC, either on a temporary or permanent basis.
3. Whether GMDC regulations permit individuals who are not registered to publicly present themselves as medical doctors or give medical advice.
4. Whether the GMDC can seek clarification from their counterpart medical registration entity in the United States regarding Dr. Daly’s status.
Dr. Ayew Afriye emphasized that the request is being made in the public interest to uphold the legal and professional standards governing the medical profession in Ghana. He requested a response within one week of receipt of the letter.
