The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has urged all Ghanaians to take tree planting as national responsibility, assignment and duty.

According to him, every citizen should take the responsibility to plant at least a tree to safeguard our environment.

Conveying the Chief Imam’s message, on Green Ghana Day, his spokesperson Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu said the planting of trees will have a positive impact on our environment by serving as wind breaks, protect our water bodies, preserve the country from the ravages of climate Change and many others so for this reason every citizen should involve themselves in this tree planting exercise”

A symbolic tree planting ceremony was held at the Kanda National Mosque in Accra to mark, Green Ghana Day.

Green Ghana Day was launched by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo in 2021 under the auspices of the Ministry of Lands and Natural resources to restore the country’s forests and mitigate the effects of climate change.
