The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has denied the alleged leaked recording of Chairman Ofosu Ampofo making rounds on various media platforms of inciting its members for violence.

In the audio, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo is heard admitting among other things that NDC had ballot box protection unit during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo outlined plans to match up against groups from the governing New Patriotic Party ahead of the 2020 elections.

His plans also included verbal attacks on the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa to the cleaners and the Peace Council Chairman, Professor Emmanuel Asante.

The NDC chairman said his approach to the election was going to be different and said there were plans for “covert and overt operations.”

However, in a statement signed by the Communications Officer for the party, Sammy Gyamfi, the party stated they have taken notice of the recording but wants to state it has been concocted and false.

“The NDC is fully aware of the evils and wicked plots by certain elements within the Ntaional Security and Government to spy on meetings of its officials, record and in turn doctor such recordings for spiteful ends.”
