Concern Voters Movement, a pressure group has prevailed on the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to remove Mr Kofi Osei Ameyaw as the Director –General (DG) of National Lottery Authority (NLA).
The group said Mr. Ameyaw, since assuming office as DG, has exhibited gross incompetence in the running of the affairs of the authority.
According to the group, Mr. Osei Ameyaw is unfit to handle the affairs of the institution for regulating lottery in the country.
The group further called for thorough investigations into the activities of the Director General of NLA.
Speaking on Epa Hoa Daben, the socio-political afternoon programme hosted by Kwame Afriffa Mensah on Accra-based Happy FM, Razak Kojo Poku, spokesperson for the movement said without due diligence Mr. Kofi Ameyaw has approved the payment of compensation to Berlin Gaming Limited otherwise known as Amaya.
He said without recourse to the other board members of the authority, the DG has committed fifteen million Dollars as compensation to the said company.
He said the reason the DG assigned for the payment of the compensation was that NLA has abrogated a contract it had with the said company.
“Mr. Ameyaw is not fit to run the National Lottery Authority. He runs it like his personal business. His level of incompetence is alarming. Without due diligence, he has approved the payment of fifteen million dollars as compensation to Berlin Gaming Company for a supposed contract abrogation.” Kojo zoo Poku told Happy FM.
He noted that without the board members approval, the DG planning to procure some thirty thousand electronic lotto kiosks from China at a cost of four thousand Dollars each.
He said DG without the board’s approval also took some forty thousand Dollars of the authority’s funds for a conference.
He stressed that the group has further petitioned the presidency over the developments at the authority.
He maintained that the former Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman in the Eastern region is fast derailing the gains the president has chalked in his fight against corruption in the country.
