The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said that the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) assessment of the Government’s promises was nothing but a ‘concert party’ filled with ‘politics of dishonesty’.
The NDC in a press briefing on Monday presented a detailed assessment of promises made by the ruling NPP. The presentation made by the North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa revealed that only 86 out of the 631 campaign promises made have been delivered. Per this assessment, the NDC scored the Akufo-Addo administration 14 percent on the fulfilment of its 2016 campaign promises.
However, a member of the NPP communications team, Saka Salia, in an interview with Kwame Afrifa Mensah on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show disagreed with the score given by the opposition party by stating that the information presented by the party was dishonest.
“I was happy that the NDC has decided that this time around, we will move away from the politics of insults and politics of non-issues to politics of issues. But I was also sad that we have moved away into politics of dishonesty.
For a political party that for the first time wanted to engage in an intellectual debate; one would have expected that they would have done a thorough job that cannot be criticized.” he said.
He furthered that the NDC could not criticize the ruling Government because they failed Ghanaians in their governance and that caused their loss in the 2016 elections.
“So in 2016, everyone was aware that John Mahama had failed. It was even better not to have a president than to have someone who will dissipate all our resources or someone who has made up his mind to deal in corruption. Ghanaians have decided that never again will we go to the polls and vote for Mahama”, he added.
