The New Patriotic Party has granted a general amnesty to all members on suspension and those facing disciplinary action.
Acting National Chairman, Mr. Danquah Smith Buttey, announced the decision in a statement dated August 16, 2025. He explained that the National Council took the decision at an emergency meeting on July 25 to promote unity and reconciliation.
The party has therefore lifted all suspensions and cancelled ongoing disciplinary proceedings against affected members.
However, members who forfeited their membership must reapply at the party’s national secretariat. Once reinstated, they cannot contest any internal elections for the next two years.
The party has also cautioned regional and constituency executives to follow due process in disciplinary matters and stop arbitrary suspensions.
According to leadership, the decision shows the party’s commitment to building internal cohesion as it prepares for future political activities.
