The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has tasked a joint committee to study the final proposals submitted by the Constitutional Review Committee (CRC) and advise the party’s National Council on its official position.
This was disclosed by the National Organizer of the NPP, Henry Nana Boakye, in a statement following the submission of the CRC’s final proposals to President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, December 22.
According to the statement, the NPP, as part of its participation in the constitutional review process, earlier constituted a joint committee to present the party’s proposals to the Constitutional Review Commission.
The committee was led by the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee, Anyimadu, and the Chairman of the NPP’s Constitutional and Legal Committee, Mr. Frank Davies, Esq.
Mr. Boakye explained that upon receipt of the CRC’s final recommendations, the General Secretary of the party has directed the joint committee to thoroughly study the proposals and submit its findings and advice to the National Council of the NPP.
The joint committee includes Hassan Tampuli, O.B. Amoah, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Mr. Gary Nimako, Esq., Mr. Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, Dr. Mahama Tiah Abdul-Kabiru, Fati Abubakar, and Ms. Hanifa Adjoa Yahaya.
Meanwhile, the National Organizer has urged party members and supporters to exercise restraint and caution in commenting publicly on the CRC’s proposals until the party completes its internal review process.
He assured that the official position of the NPP on the final constitutional review proposals will be made public after the joint committee submits its report and the National Council considers its recommendations.
