The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested one suspect and retrieved weapons following a violent clash between two rival groups at Simpa, near the Simpa Sawmill in the Nsuaem District.
In a statement signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police Beatrice Turkson, Head of the Public Affairs Unit for the Western Central Region, the incident occurred on Sunday, September 28, 2025, when officers received a distress call about an armed confrontation between groups led by Daniel Cudjoe, alias Kwame Ato Asare, and another faction from Dadwen led by suspects identified as Alhassan and Abolo, who are currently on the run.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the confrontation erupted after the Dadwen group allegedly destroyed mining equipment belonging to Cudjoe’s faction. In retaliation, Daniel Cudjoe, his brother Emmanuel Cudjoe, and about ten others confronted the group. The situation escalated into an exchange of gunfire, which led to the death of Emmanuel Cudjoe, aged 23.
Police confirmed the arrest of Daniel Cudjoe, 25, and said several items were retrieved from the scene, including two pump-action guns, three machetes, four motorbikes, one tricycle, and a regalia.
Police assured the public that investigations are ongoing to apprehend all suspects involved in the violent clash.
