The State Interests and Governance Authority in partnership with the Public Enterprises Secretariat and the Ministry of Finance gathered Chief Executive officials and managers of specified entities nationwide to award them for hard work done during the previous year as ranked on the Public Enterprises League Table.

PELT awards scheme, spearheaded by the Minister of Public Enterprises, Joseph Cudjoe is backed by the collaborative efforts of SIGA officials. The board ranks government agencies under timely objectives that are placed within the 12 months of the year.

The function commenced with opening remarks delivered by Director General of SIGA; Ambassador Edward Boateng, in which he declared a time of reflection and motivation for all Chief Executive Officers with companies under the supervision of SIGA. He emphasized the need for State Owned Entities (SOE) and Other Specified Entities (OSE) to spread their markets beyond the shores of Ghana and establish secure economic relations with nations within the African continent and beyond.

He also encouraged SOEs to engage more successful entities within their respective sectors, and learn all that is needed to boost efficiency and heighten profit margins for their entities. “Entities must get to interact with each other; get to learn from more successful entities because there are entities that are doing very well and there are others that need to review initiatives and so on; if SOEs are paying enough tax, training enough people and doing what they are expected to, economic challenges can be curbed quickly.”

The awards night proudly awarded State Owned Enterprises and Other Specified Entities within the categories of Most Compliant SOE won by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Most Compliant OSE won by the Ghana Irrigation Development Authority, Most Profitable SOE of the Year won by the Ghana Airports Company Limited, Most Efficient OSE won by the Ghana Metrological Agency, Most Financially Stable OSE won by the Gaming Commission of Ghana, Best SOE – Dynamic Effect won by the Northern Electronic Development Company Limited and Best OSE – Dynamic Effect won by the Food and Drugs Authority Ghana. The rest are SOE of the Year won by Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Best OSE of the Year and Entity of the Year both swooped by the Food and Drugs Authority Ghana.

Some key guests and prominent attendees of the event were the Minister for Public Enterprises; Joseph Cudjoe, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice; Godfred Yeboah Dame, Board Chair of Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCO); Ambassador Kabral Blay Amihere , Chief Executive Officer of Global Media Alliance; Mr. Ernest Boateng and Managerial Heads of leading entities in Ghana.

The 2nd edition of the Public Enterprises League Table (PELT) awards which was themed, ‘Building the Economic Highway’ is organized by the State Interests and Governance Authority in partnership with the Public Enterprises Secretariat and the Ministry of Finance. The event recognizes and honors the most outstanding Specified Entities based on the key metrics as defined by the Public Financial Management Regulatory 2019 (L.I. 2378).
