Telecel TurnUp electrified the campus of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in Sunyani this past weekend with an incredible music concert featuring the 2024 TGMA Artiste of the Year, Stonebwoy.

The concert, a tailored event for tertiary institutions on the Telecel Tertiary bundle in Ghana, climaxed the 2024 UENR Students Representative Council (SRC) week celebration. The event drew tens of thousands of students and residents of Sunyani and adjoining towns to the UENR campus field for a fun-filled night of music and dance.

Headlining the concert, Stonebwoy delivered a high-energy performance that captivated the beaming crowd with his hit songs and infectious moves. The Afro-dancehall and reggae musician, known for his socially conscious music, treated fans to a setlist that spanned his extensive hits including Into the Future, Everlasting, Mightylele and Kpo Keke, among others.
Next TurnUp Star

Joining Stonebwoy on stage was Mass Mello, the winner of the UENR campus talent search – Telecel TurnUp Star. The TurnUp Star competition, which showcased the musical talents of UENR students, provided a platform for aspiring student artistes to showcase their abilities and potentially launch their music careers.

The five shortlisted contestants, from the many talents who posted their audition entry videos on social media as part of the selection process, were given the chance to perform to the teeming crowd. Mass Mello stood tall and was adjudged the next Telecel TurnUp star, receiving the GH¢10,000 cash prize and the opportunity to perform alongside Stonebwoy.
Connecting creativity

Tawa Bolarin, Director of Enterprise Business & Wholesale at Telecel Ghana, said, Telecel TurnUp is carefully curated for tertiary institutions on the Telecel tertiary bundle.

It is a youthful celebration of music and dance which shows the telco’s ongoing commitment to powering creativity and supporting student communities.
“We’re thrilled to have brought Stonebwoy to UENR for Telecel TurnUp. Music has the power to connect people and inspire creativity and we’re proud to support emerging talents and provide unforgettable entertainment experiences for people. We are grateful to our partners, Twellium Beverages, ALX, iTel, Indomie and BBox ” she said.

TurnUp perks

Beyond the TurnUp concert, Telecel Ghana partnered with the SRC to organise a cashless bazaar, offering students the opportunity to shop and pay for products and services conveniently using Telecel Cash.

Additionally, Telecel rolled out special connectivity packages for UENR including free calls on and off campus, bespoke and lower cost data bundles tailored to students’ needs to facilitate learning, research and increase interaction between students and staff.
“Telecel TurnUp was a resounding success with Stonebwoy’s amazing headliner performance. We’ve created lasting memories with friends and the impact from the partnership with Telecel has boosted student morale, unified our sense of community and improved campus social life,” said Gideon Aidoo, SRC president of UENR.
