There has been a longstanding relation between Dagombas and Asantes

Even though history has not been able to state clear that Asantes ever fought with the Dangombas from the Northern Region, it has been established that the two tribes have always collaborated in history
But developments afterwards indicate that the Asantes have always collaborated with the Dagombas were the words of the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP when he gave history lessons on what transpired yesterday in the Ashanti Regional capital.
He said in spite of the fact that there is no core record to that effect Dagombas, Mamprusis, the people of Demkyira and  Gonja have always collaborated with the Asante kingdom.
He said he is not surprised see the whole Manhysia palace surrounded by people of Dagomba descent in the Ashanti Region.
Obri Boahen said this on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’   show hosted by Kwame Afrifa –Mensah on Accra-based Happy FM.
It was not just mere coincidence that the committee that was set up by ex-president John Agyekum Kufour to find lasting peace to the Dagbon crisis was chaired by Asantehene Otunfour Osei Tutu II.
He said several kingdoms existed before the Asante kingdom but it became powerful in the 1600 with the advent of Okomfo Anokye when he conjured the golden stool from the sky.
He noted that the kingdom’s tentacles spread all the way to Togo, Ivory Coast and parts of the Northern Region hence the culture well preserved and diverse.
