Ghana’s Black Princesses earned a commanding 2-0 victory over Tunisia in the second round of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers at the Tayeb Mhiri Stadium in Tunis on Saturday.
Mercy Attobrah was the heroine of the night, striking twice to give Ghana the upper hand in the two-legged tie. She opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a composed finish before doubling the lead midway through the second half in the 66th minute.
Backed by a resolute defensive display, the Princesses kept the Tunisians at bay to preserve their advantage, showcasing maturity and discipline away from home.
The result puts Ghana in a strong position ahead of the return leg in Accra on September 28, where victory will seal their passage to the next stage of the qualifiers and edge them closer to a place at the U20 Women’s World Cup.
