The Overlord of Waala Tradional Area, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, has made a passionate appeal to the nation to forgive, Kwesi Nyantakyi in the wake of his role in the corruption scandals that hit the association recently.
Mr Nyantakyi was captured in an undercover investigation conducted by the TigerEye PI in which he made damning commentaries about the president of the country and his vice as well as other ministers of state.
He also received an undeserved $65,000 from the supposed businessman who was, in reality, an undercover journalist.
On Friday, Mr Nyantakyi resigned from office but not without apologizing to the president of Ghana.
Naa Pelpuo IV in a speech read on his behalf by his Spokesperson Naa Kadir Ibrahim, when Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia paid a courtesy call on him on Friday in Wa, the king pleaded with the people and President Akufo-Addo “to forgive his son”.
“On his [Nyantakyi] behalf, I wish to apologize through you, once again to the President of the Republic of Ghana, and all Ghanaians, for forgiveness.”
“Just as we have forgiven others in the past, why not do the same for Kwesi Nyantakyi. He is a sub divisional chief of Wa.”
He also described the corruption allegation as unfortunate and expressed regret at the pain it has brought to the nation and its football.
