The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced an extension of the registration deadline for candidates sitting the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, First Series.

In a public notice, WAEC stated that the new closing date for registration is Friday, January 9, 2026.

The extension is to allow prospective candidates who were unable to complete their registration within the earlier stipulated period additional time to do so.

According to the Council, affected candidates are required to physically visit the WAEC Office at Ridge, Accra, or their respective WAEC Branch Offices only to finalize their registration within the extended period.

WAEC urged all prospective candidates who are yet to complete their registration to take full advantage of the extension, stressing that it presents a final opportunity to participate in the 2026 First Series of the private examinations.

The Council, however, cautioned that no further extension will be granted beyond the new deadline.
