Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, have expressed the need for a regional party leadership which can interact with the grassroot and engender support for their (NPP’s) ‘Break the 8 Agenda’.

Radio host at a Kumasi based radio station, Ebenezer Yaw Donkor has share that NPP party faithful in the region have subliminally expressed their displeasure at their current regional executives and hope to replace them in the upcoming regional election, especially the chairmanship.

Sharing his observation with Happy98.9FM’s Don Kwabena Prah on the Epa Hoa Daben political talk show, he stated, “The Ashanti Regional NPP say they need change, they need to change their leadership team. They are calling for a new and unified executive team to face the opposition.”

On his charge, the NPP party faithfuls in the region believe the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) party chair is the model leader for them.
“They say the NDC party chair is a quiet personality who does so much grounds work and is rallying support for the opposition in an impressive manner. The NPP party faithfuls also want a quiet person and not a loud party chair. They want someone who will make the NPP victorious in 2024 and that is why they are vouching for Odeneho Kwaku Appiah.”

The New Patriotic Party is making the move to break the 8 years mantra and a lot of political jostling is underway in the Ashanti Region, the strong hold of the NPP.

Although nominations are yet to be opened for the NPP Ashanti Regional chairmanship and other portfolios, political gurus who are lacing their boots to lead the NPP in the Ashanti region as regional chairpersons to recapture power in election 2024 include, the incumbent chairman, Bernard Antwi Bosiako (Chairman Wontumi), Mr.Owusu Aduomi, former member of parliament for Ejisu constituency in the Ashanti Region and former Deputy Minister of Roads, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah Constituency Chairman, Afigya Kwabre South, Mr. Boris B, among others.
