Nana Yaw, Business Manager at the Silverbird Cinemas, Ghana, has talked about how Covid-19 is still affecting the cinema business.
Talking to Doctar Cann on Showbiz Xtra which airs on Happy FM, Nana Yaw disclosed that Covid-19 is still having a negative impact on turn ups at the cinema because most people are still scared to visit and have their own perceptions about the cinema.
According to him, this has affected the rate at which movie premieres are sold out. “We have had sold out shows and we have had days where it wasn’t so big a crowd. Before Covid, it was the same but I had a lot more sold-out shows before Covid than now”, he said
Nana Yaw shared that even his best friend who knows very well that he is the Business Manager at the Cinema told him bluntly that she will not step foot at the cinemas anytime soon because Covid-19 is still in existence and this to him, is totally understandable.
“Everyone has their own phobia and expectations of how they want a cinema to be like so it’s not as great as it used to be but when all these restrictions are lifted, people will have the confidence to get back into the theatres and enjoy their movies”, the Business Manager further concluded.
