A 93rd minute strike by leaders Medeama denied Hearts of Oak full points as the Ghana Premier League hit the halfway line on Sunday.
The Phobians, 13th on the log, opened the scoring in the matchday 15 fixture through Aboubacar Traore in the 37th minute. They looked headed for their fifth win of the season when Awudu Tahiru stuck in stoppage time to share the spoils.
Elsewhere, new boys Karela United have seized the second spot following a 2-1 home triumph over fifth-placed Inter Allies. Abdul Ganiu Ismail and William Opoku Mensah were on target for the debutants, with the Eleven-Is-To-One’s consolation coming from Paul Abanga.
Ashgold were the victims of Karela’s position upsurge as a 1-0 loss away to ninth-spotted Berekum Chelsea moved the Miners down to the third position. Stephen Amankonah’s goal was the difference.
There was, however, good news for Kotoko, who handed reigning champions Aduana Stars a 2-1 defeat in Kumasi to claim the fourth spot. Sogne Yacouba once again came to the fore with a double, making little of Bright Adjei’s effort for the Fire Boys, who sit third from bottom.
At the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, Hamza Mohammed and Hafiz Konkoni Wontah found the back of the net to help Bechem United to a 2-1 victory over Wafa. The Hunters consequently moved to 10th on the table, three places behind the Academy Boys, who scored through Umar Bashiru.
At the Nduom Stadium, Yakubu Mohammed and Tamimu Muntari exchanged goals as Elmina Sharks and Liberty Professionals settled for a 1-1 stalemate. The result has left the two sides eighth and 11th respectively on the log.
Wa All Stars registered just their second win of the campaign as Maxwell Oppong netted to secure a 1-0 home triumph over new boys Eleven Wonders. The Northern Blues, nonetheless, still sit bottom of the table while the debutants hold the 12th position.
In the only game on Saturday, sixth-placed Dreams FC and second-from-bottom Ebusua Dwarfs shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw. Captain Leonard Owusu opened the scoring for Still Believe on 10 minutes before Michael Agyei restored parity.
