Reconstruction of the Appiatse town will start by the end of this month, with houses being put up by the end of next month. The project will last for one year.

A member of the Appiatse Reconstruction Committee, Charles Blankson Hemans, said all is in place for work to start.

He said the road network will be done first, with the layout already in place.

The entire Appiatse Community was razed by a huge explosion on January 20, 2022.

Thirteen people were reported dead with many others injured.

Government as part of efforts aimed at rebuilding the Community, set up the Apiatse Disaster Support Fund and put together a Committee to oversee the administration of the fund.

Mr. Blankson Hemans, who gave an overview of how the Community will be rebuilt, said a spatial plan for the Community had been completed, taking into consideration the socio-cultural heritage of the people.

600 buildings have been earmarked for about 800 persons.
