Lit Chemist, a licensed pharmacy shop poised to transform the field of play when it comes to dispensing health services at the regional level with operations in Takoradi in the Western Region of Ghana, launched its services recently at its market circle premises. The launch activity was broadcast live on the city’s leading urban radio station Y979 FM’s Shouts on Y program.

In collaboration with the Ghana Health Service, Sycamore Medical Centre, Marie Stopes Ghana, MPharma and Hills Pharmaceuticals, patrons at the event and residents around the catchment area of the facility had access to free medical screening, free specialist consultation, sexual and reproductive health education, Covid-19 vaccination, and other health services.

Speaking to Y979 FM’s Rahm Besia , Mildred Aidoo ofSycamore Medical Centre, affirmed that her organization is delighted to partner a disease prevention initiative and public good such as this because, it presents an opportunity to advice people on lifestyle choices that will be beneficial to their general well-being.

“It is not business as usual with Lit Chemist, people deserve better services than what we experience in most outlets. We are not about just selling products, our interest is to lessen healthcare costs for people especially in these hard times hence the need for preventive care via routine medical screenings to avoid emergency situations”, echoed by Dr. Tii Mambilla, Superintending Pharmacist of Lit Chemist. He further explained that there are so many people in our communities who attribute every illness symptom to malaria, meanwhile, some are carriers of Hepatitis B without knowing it, people have low hemoglobin(Hb) levels, high blood sugar levels, or high blood pressure. Others resort to self-medication or seek unorthodox means of healthcare. These are some of the reasons why Lit Chemist and its partners are committing to providing quarterly free screening services, to give meaning to the slogan “Caring beyond medicine, one call does it all”.

“We are hopeful that this will serve as an avenue for early detection, management and treatment of serious and sometimes chronic diseases and an opportunity for those who are unable to afford frequent medical check-ups due to financial constraints, to have access to medical care”, Dr Mambilla concluded.

The 24-hour retail shop of Lit Chemist Ltd, is located within the Central Business District of Takoradi, opposite Sekondi Taxi Station.

Apart from retail of pharmaceutical, medical and non-medical health consumables, the facility also offers a wide range of services including, free daily BMI and Blood Pressure checks, delivery of medicines to homes, offices and hospitals, and a state-of-the-art intuitive online pharmacy shop.
