In anticipation of the annual Fetu Festival, the Oguaa Traditional Council has announced a noise-making ban, effective August 6 to 22, 2024. This measure is part of the traditional activities leading up to the festival, which celebrates a bountiful harvest and expresses gratitude to the 77 deities of the Oguaa Traditional Area.
During this period, the council has established guidelines to honor the region’s cultural heritage and ensure a successful Oguaa Fetu Afahye celebration in September.
To maintain a serene and respectful atmosphere leading up to the Fetu Festival, the Oguaa Traditional Council has implemented restrictions from August 6 to 22, 2024. Quarreling or disputes within the traditional area are prohibited, and pounding of fufu is not allowed after 6 pm. Additionally, drumming or loud music, loud wailing or mourning, and fishing in the Fosu Lagoon are banned until September 3.
Funeral activities are also prohibited until September 21, 2024. These measures aim to promote a peaceful and tranquil environment, allowing the community to prepare for the festival with reverence and respect.
